Steven P. Kuhn
Steven P. Kuhn is a partner in the firm of Winkler, Kurtz & Winkler & Kuhn, LLP, located in Port Jefferson Station, New York. Initially a general practitioner, for the past 17 years of his 26 year career he has concentrated his practice in the area of Matrimonial and Family law. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin & Marshall College in 1978 and graduated from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1981.
Mr. Kuhn was admitted to the New York State Bar and the United States Eastern and Southern District Courts of New York in 1982. Mr. Kuhn has been a member of the American Bar Association since 1982 and is also a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, the Matrimonial and Family Law Committee, the Grievance Committee, the Fee Dispute Resolution Committee and the Bench and Bar Committee.
Mr. Kuhn has represented over 1,800 clients in matrimonial and family law matters.
Mr. Kuhn has tried cases to conclusion involving almost every issue that would arise between divorcing parties and/or non-married parties with a child in common. Mr. Kuhn, has on behalf of clients obtained awards of counsel fees based upon written decisions of the Court. Prior to trying any case, serious efforts are always made to negotiate a settlement. However, when a case cannot be settled, Mr. Kuhn's trial advocacy and experience is available to obtain fair and equitable results for his clients.
Mr. Kuhn has served as a volunteer arbitrator in the Civil Court of the City of New York, Small Claims Part and was appointed by a Supreme Court Justice to serve as a Referee of a bitterly contested matrimonial deposition. Prior to concentration in matrimonial and family law matters, Mr. Kuhn worked in several law firms and handled personal injury matters, real estate closings, drafting and probating of wills and general commercial litigation.
Mr. Kuhn is frequently consulted by other members of the bar. His knowledge and experience leads to the frequent referral of clients by other attorneys and former clients of the firm to their friends and relatives when the need arises.
